General information about how the public will be warned in the event of a major incident at the facility:

Neighbouring properties within a 200 metre radius will be notified by phone using contact information in the Ixom Morrinsville Emergency Response Plan. The notification will be carried out by Ixom's Emergency Response Service (ERS), under the direction of the Facility Emergency Controller (FEC). Notification of the public and businesses within the wider affected area to be determined and carried out by the Emergency Services, in consultation with the Facility Emergency Controller.

General information about how the public should act and any precautionary steps that people should take if a major incident occurs at the facility:

On notification of a major incident at the Ixom Morrinsville site, or on detecting a strong chemical odour or visible fume, the public should shelter in place by going indoors and closing all doors and windows, and if necessary sealing any gaps with blankets, towels or duct tape. Turn off heaters, air conditioners and exhaust fans and close fireplace dampers. Remain in place until the emergency is declared over. If evacuation is deemed necessary, this will be coordinated by the Emergency Services.
