General information about how the public will be warned in the event of a major incident at the facility:

 Neighbouring properties to be notified by phone by the Ixom Emergency Response Service using contact information held as part of the Site Emergency Plan under the direction of the Facility Emergency Controller (FEC). Notification of the public and further businesses within the wider affected area to be determined and carried out by emergency services, in consultation with the Facility Emergency Controller (FEC).

 There may be a risk from fume or gases On notification of a major incident at the Ixom Timaru site, the public should shelter in place by going indoors and closing all doors and windows, until the emergency is declared over.
